New Product Alert: Pro Tools 10 and HDX



Yesterday at the AES conference in New York, Avid announced the release of Pro Tools 10 and Pro Tools 10 HD. The latest incarnation of the industry leading DAW adds more than 50 new features, including:
  • clip-based gain 
  • real time fades
  • 32-bit floating point audio 
  • advanced EUCON enhancement
  • all new AAX plug-in format
  • 3 new plug-ins, including a new channel strip plug-in taken from the award winning System 5 console 

Pro Tools 10 HD also introduces new RAM caching functionality, allowing entire sessions to be loaded directly into your system's RAM, speeding up responsiveness when working with large sessions.

This is the second version of Pro Tools to be released in less than a year. Pro Tools 10 will retail for $599. Upgrade pricing for owners of Pro Tools 9 is $299 for Pro Tools 10 and $999 for Pro Tools 10 HD.



Pro Tools|HDX





Along with Pro Tools 10, Avid announced Pro Tools|HDX, the next generation of their renowned HD systems. Pro Tools|HDX promises up to 5x more power per card over HD|Accel, allowing up to 768 tracks when using multiple cards. The new card will also feature twice the IO of its predecessor. According to Avid, Pro Tools|HDX systems will begin at just under $10,000.
